INTRODUCTION
2
Thank you for purchasing this product. Your new Satellite Radio Antenna is designed to optimally receive
both signals from Sirius satellites and terrestrial (ground) transmitters. This antenna has been approved by
Sirius Satellite Radio, Inc. to receive signals under a variety of conditions within Sirius North American
coverage area. The antenna should be mounted properly according to the instructions to ensure the best
possible signal reception.
It is recommended that the antenna be installed at or above room temperature, as lower temperatures
may cause the antennas tail to not adhere properly. Maximum adhesion usually occurs within 72 hours at
room temperature. Car washes as well as other contact with the antenna and tail should be avoided at this
time. Warmer temperatures will allow for easier antenna installation over-all, including easier routing of the
antenna cable through the rubber molding around windows and other objects on your vehicle.
VEHICLE ANTENNA
MOUNTING
3
Your new Satellite Radio Antenna has a strong magnetic mounting to hold the antenna in place during
normal driving conditions (highway/city) and to allow easy removal for transferring to other vehicles or a
home unit. It is the discretion of the consumer whether to install the antenna with the tailpiece or without.
For optimum performance, it is recommended that the tail be installed with the antenna (see Figure 1). The
tail provides the correct distance and cable-concealment to install the antenna in a position that gives it the
best exposure to the sky. The antennas tail includes an adhesive strip that also protects the exposed
portion of the antenna cable and holds it securely in place.
1.
Surface Preparation:
Clean the general surface area of the vehicle where you intend to mount the
antenna. This area should be cleaned with the alcohol wipe included in this package. Place the
antenna at the selected location and the magnet will attach to the surface.
2.
With-Tail Installation (recommended):
The antenna should be mounted along the centerline of the
vehicles metal roof at minimum 12" x 12" and exactly 6.5" (length for tailpiece) from the vehicles rear
window for most sedan applications. Guide the cable through the bottom of the tailpiece cavity, DO
NOT ADHERE YET. The cable should be routed along the rear window and underneath the rubber
molding, beginning with the tail end first (see Figure 1). Use a plastic knife or other blunt object to lift
the rubber molding and tuck the cable underneath. Route cable down the window to the lowest point
and into the trunk area, using existing cable channel or wiring conduit, and through the interior trim to
receiver location. Once the cable is routed through to the trunk and you are happy with the location,
remove the protective backing from one side of the adhesive strip and press it firmly along the bottom
of the tail piece, over the cable guide. Next, remove the other protective backing on the adhesive and
firmly place this onto your vehicle's surface. Make sure you are satisfied with the location and press
firmly down on the tail for at least 30 seconds. If you intend to transfer the antenna from your car to
your home, we do not recommend using the adhesive strip.
