TCP/IP Addresses

Every workstation that communicates via TCP/IP is assigned a
unique 32 bit address. The convention for expressing a TCP/IP
address is to convert each octet of the address to a decimal number
separated from the other octets by a decimal point. The default
TCP/IP address for all XANTÉ printers is 192.9.200.201.

TCP/IP addresses are divided into classes based on the network’s
size. The TCP/IP address assigned depends on the class and includes
the network ID and the host (individual computer or peripheral) ID.

individual workstations. The first 8 bits of the address

identify the network. The remaining 24 bits are used as host IDs. The
class A address begins with the numbers 1 through 126.
