Idiom Recognition
Idiom Recognition allows you to use newer, more efficient
PostScript 3 commands in place of older PostScript commands for
the same action. This feature recognizes the older commands and
substitutes the newer, more efficient ones for processing.
Set Idiom Recognition using the front panel MISC:IDIOMREC
configuration menu. Yes, the factory default, enables this feature; No
disables the feature.
Initial Job
The Initial Job feature allows you to direct the printer to execute a
Sys/Start file from an optional hard disk each time the printer is
turned on.
Set Initial Job from the MISC:INITIAL JOB configuration menu.
Yes, the factory default, directs the printer to look for a Sys/Start file
during initialization. Select No to disable this feature.
Interface Control
The PlateMaker 3 features three standard simultaneously active
interfaces. The LocalTalk port, the serial (RS232) port, and the
parallel port allow you to send files from Macintosh and PC
computers concurrently. The optional Ethernet port supports
EtherTalk, Novell Print Server, NetBEUI, and TCP/IP (LPR). See
chapter 5 for information about configuring the Ethernet interface for
your network environment.
Set printer interface options using the Interface (I/F) configuration
menus (fig. 6.10).
