Media Types
Your printer supports paper, envelopes, film media, and direct plate
materials with weights from 16 - 36 lb bond (60 - 135 g/m
2
). See
“Media Sources” later in this chapter for the media source
specifications. Chapter 8, “Printing with Various Media Types,”
covers specifics for printing on plates, film, and envelopes.
Media used in your printer should meet the guidelines for selecting and
storing media covered earlier in this chapter. To save on media costs,
test a sample of new media before buying in quantity. Run a test
print on plain paper to check layout and alignment before using more
expensive stock.
XANTÉ preset media defaults are the recommended settings for media.
These settings should be used unless you run into a problem. You only
need to select media under the front panel MEDIA:CONFIG menu;
Density, TTL, Fuser, and NEIT menu options will not need to be
changed. For details on these menus, see chapter 6, “Configuration.”
Media Handling
This section describes available options for feeding media to the printer.
It summarizes the media path and covers using the paper cassettes, the
optional paper feeders, and the multipurpose feeder.
