1. Not checking the RS-232 port for compatibility with the sub-system. The XANTECH XLIP has some
limitations that prevent it from working properly with all RS-232 devices. This includes a limit on baud
and parity settings, among others. You should test your equipment with the XANTECH XLIP prior to
installation to ensure communications are reliable. In addition, the XLIP-232 uses a Stereo Mini to
DB9 adapter, only supporting RX, TX, and GND
2. Not Configuring RS-232 baud rate in the Xantech Configuration. The baud rate setting in g! will not
have an effect on the
3. No RS-232 Communications: Make sure that the g! configuration is using the TCP port for RS-232
and not the UDP port for IR comminucations.
4. Configuring multiple XLIP devices on the same UDP Port for IR. G! requires each device to be
listening on a unique port. See XLIP Configuration above.
5. Incorrect Code Timing Options: Generally the “Normal Codes” option should be selected. Make sure
that this setting matches the setting required by the IR controlled device. See the “Configuring
Xantech” section above as well as the Xantech XLIP documentation for information on Code Timing.
