RS232 INPUT TRANSLATOR
The MRC88m Controller has the ability to receive specific RS232 XANTECH strings and associate them to an
IR Macro to control any number of IR controlled devices. This can give the ability for a central PC (or other
RS232 device) to control not only the MRC88m system itself, but also any IR controlled device connected to
any of the MRC88m emitter ports. This all gets programmed under the RS232 INPUT tab located in the
MRC88m Systems window.
To control the MRC88m Controller itself within the MACRO, use the MRC Amplifier Command Generator
located under the PALETTE menu (or press F6 on the keyboard to access menu). These commands will
directly control all functionality of the Controller without using the standard Keypad (i.e. Source Selection,
Volume, Mute, etc. can all be controlled within the Macro). As in the example below (see -
Figure 38
below),
from a single RS232 ASCII trigger, you can Turn a Zone ON, select a specific Source Component, and issue an
IR command to that Source.
For more information on using Internal Amplifier Commands, please see the section entitled

INTERNAL AMPLIFIER COMMANDS
