PROFESSIONAL UV-C Ø 110 mm
GB
Before installing this device, please read the instructions very carefully. Caution: this device contains
glass, handle with care!! Before maintenance/repair always disconnect the electric plug from the socket!
Operation
This device provides clean water in an environmentally-friendly way. The water is fed trough the UV-C unit by a pump.
Here the water is exposed to UV-C radiation at a wavelength of 253.7 nanometres, produced by a special lamp. This
radiation neutralises bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms and prevents them from reproducing. Due to the
length of the unit, the water is exposed to this high dose of radiation for a particularly long period. In addition, the
stainless-steel interior reflects UV-C radiation, thereby increasing the efficiency by up to 35%. During the frost-free
period the device is used 24 hours a day, so as to achieve an optimal result.
• Up to 35% more efficiency because of reflection
• Stainless-steel interior
• UV-C Lamp
• Provides fresh, clean and clear water
• Efficiently and safely disinfects water
• Keeps the formation of mould, bacteria and algae under control
• Helps protect fish against disease
• Cleans (pond) water without the use of chemicals
• Makes the pond water clear in 14 days
• For swimming pool applications, can reduce the use of chlorine and other chemicals by 80%
• Prevents chlorine smell and irritation of skin and eyes (red eyes)
• Better for the environment compared to other traditional methods of disinfection
Garden pond application:
The UV-C Professional provides clear pond water and at the same time it reduces the need for chemicals and medications.
Special medication need not be added to the pond water as frequently, because the device destroys any dangerous
pathogens that may be present in the water. To achieve best results it is recommended to use the UV-C Professional in
conjunction with a mechanical/biological filter.
Swimming pool application:
Since the UV-C Professional is designed for high pressure use, it may be used in combination with sand filters and
swimming pool pumps. Due to the great effectiveness of the UV-C Professional, the need for chemical additives
(particularly chlorine) is substantially reduced.
Industrial use:
The UV-C Professional can be used to disinfect process water. UV-C is a proven disinfection method and is used in many
industrial applications to reduce the danger of the bacteria and viruses that are always present in the water.
Safety
- This device produces harmful radiation. Direct contact can be harmful to eyes and skin.
- In case of damage to parts of the device (in particular to the quartz glass tube) do not use the device.
- Switch off the unit when the water is not running.
- If a permanent connection is made to the mains net, be sure to comply fully with the regulations of the electricity
company. In case of doubt, consult a certified electrician or the electricity company.
- During the winter months, when the system is out of use, remove the unit to prevent damage from freezing.
- Never submerge this device in water.
- The cable of this device is not replaceable. In case of cable damage, the whole device must be destroyed.
- This device has an earth connection.
- The lamp will remain warm for about 10 minutes after the device is switched off.
Installation of earth connection (drawing 1)
1 The cable (
B
) must be pulled through the strain relief (
F
) before installing the strain relief (
F
) onto the bolt (
A
). You do
this by positioning the strain relief (
F
) at about 10cm from the end of the earthing cable(
B
).
2 Position the end ring (
H
) of the cable (
B
) over the bolt (
A
) which comes out of the housing.
3 Then position a serrated washer (
C
), hexagonal nut (
D
) and the other serrated washer (E) on the end ring (
H
).
4 Fasten the strain relief
(F
) on top so that a loop of Ø5cm is created.
5 Finally, position the locking nut (
G
) on the bolt (
A
).
6 If the various screws have been positioned in the correct sequence on the earthing bolt (
A
), this can be tightened with
an open-ended spanner or a ring spanner number 8. Make sure that it is not over-tightened because this can break the
strain relief. (The transparent nut which is screwed onto the bolt (
A
) at the time of delivery is no longer required and
can be discarded.)
Installation type TL55 Watt (drawing 2/2a)
This device must never be put in the water. Always install outside the pond or pool. Switch the device off when
administering medication.
1 Determine the desired location for the device. It should be easily accessible for maintenance. (Make sure there is
approximately 1 metre of clearance in front of the UV-C device.)
2 The device must be positioned VERTICALLY (
K
). To ensure good adhesion, lightly scour the connecting surface of the
PVC pipe with abrasive paper before applying the glue. Always check the system for flow and leakage.
3 Plug the power lead of the UV-C device into an earthed electrical socket with an earth leakage circuit breaker.
4 To activate the device, press the button (
L
) on the ballast (
see drawing 2a
).
5 The device is turned off by disconnecting the electric plug from the socket (NOT by pressing the button).
Assembly/Disassembly/Maintenance of type TL 55 Watt (drawing 2/3/3a)
Before maintenance or dismantling of the device, always disconnect the electrical power from the mains. The device
must be cleaned twice a year. When algae growth or calcium deposits increase, the quartz glass tube in which the light
bulb is inserted should be cleaned. The UV-C bulb must be replaced after 8,000 hours of use. Once a year the 8 O-rings
must be replaced (2 in the cover, and 6 in the bulb/lens-holder (
see drawing 3a
). Complete sets of O-rings are available
from the place of purchase.
1 Allow the water to flow out of the device.
2 At both ends of the device, release the screw-rings (
N
), remove the covers from the housing unit, and remove the white
lamp-fittings (
O
).
3 At one side only, pull the lamp/lens-holder carefully free (P). As soon as this part is removed from the housing unit, the
second lamp/lens-holder can be removed. The glass and the light will now also be pulled out of the housing.
4 Clean the housing unit and the quartz lens; if necessary, replace the fluorescent bulb.
5 When the lamp is installed or replaced, O-ring grease must be applied to the lamp/lens-holders.
6 During installation of the lamp and the quartz lens, the housing unit must be held in the vertical position. This to
protect the lamp and quartz lens from damage.
7 Never use force! When the quartz lens cannot be easily pressed into the holder, retry from a vertical starting position.
If the housing or the electrical section must be replaced, the earth connection should first be disconnected from the
housing. Please read Installation and Dismantling before fitting a new housing or electrical section. Make sure you retain
the various parts of the earth connection. These are not supplied with a new housing or electrical section. If there is any
doubt about the connection, consult a certified electrician.
