Installation type T5 75 Watt and type T5 130 Watt Amalgam (drawing 4/4a)
This device must never be put in the water. Always install outside the pond or pool. Switch the device off when
administering medication.
1 Determine the desired location for the device. It should be easily accessible for maintenance. (Make sure there is
approximately 1 metre of clearance in front of the UV-C device).
2 The device must be positioned vertically. Glue the PVC pipes to the Ø110mm fittings (
K
). To ensure good adhesion,
lightly scour the connecting surface of the PVC pipe with abrasive paper before applying the glue. Always check the
system for flow and leakage.
3 Slide the lamp (
Q
) carefully info the quartz sleeve (
R
). Fit the lamp (
Q
) into the lamp holder (
S
) and tighten the screw
cap (
N
) finger tight on the unit.
4 Start the pump, check the flow through the system and make sure it is not leaking. Then check the seals (
T
) for correct
positioning both at the connections and the quartz lens.
5 Plug the power lead of the UV-C device into an earthed electrical socket with an earth leakage circuit breaker.
6 The device is switched off by removing the plug from the electrical socket.
Assembly/Disassembly/Maintenance of type T5 75 Watt and type T5 130 Watt Amalgam
(drawing 4)
Before maintenance or dismantling of the device, always disconnect the electrical power from the mains. The device
must be cleaned twice a year. When algae growth or calcium deposits increase, the quartz glass tube in which the light
bulb is inserted should be cleaned. The UV-C bulb must be replaced after 9,000 hours of use. Clean the stainless steel
interior with a soft brush.
1 Allow the water to flow out of the device.
2 Twist the cap (
N
) containing the lamp off the device and replace the special lamp (
Q
) if needed. Please handle with
care as these are very delicate parts.
3 Carefully remove the quartz lens (
R
) with a large flat screwdriver (
see drawing 5
). Never use force!
4 Clean the quartz glass with an appropriate cleaning solution. Always use a soft cloth to clean the glass in order to
prevent scratches.
5 When replacing the quartz lens in the housing make sure that it is placed on the seals (
T
) correctly and carefully slide
the end of the quartz lens into the receiving guide (
see drawing 4a
). Never use force!
If the housing or the electrical section must be replaced, the earth connection should first be disconnected from the
housing. Please read Installation and Dismantling before fitting a new housing or electrical section. Make sure you retain
the various parts of the earth connection. These are not supplied with a new housing or electrical section. If there is any
doubt about the connection, consult a certified electrician.
Years of experience with UV-C equipment has taught us that 99% of the time defects are caused by ageing of the
starter. The choke itself is virtually never found to be defective. If in doubt, consult a specialist. In general, the starter
is considered a wear component in home, garden and kitchen lighting. This part, like the lamp, must be replaced in
the course of time. The starter in the UV-C device is guaranteed for 8,000 hours of use. With the starter set you can
replace the starter of your device yourself.
