Usually this will be the power of the alternator. Too thin cables can cause
voltage losses. This affects the correct operation of the relay. And this can
also result in overheating!
Formula optimal cable thickness (+ cable):
Max. current x length in meter x 0,2 = cable mm²
(total distance
between the batteries)
The minus cable must be at least 1.5mm².
Connection
Disconnect the negative terminals from both batteries. Follow the installation
diagram below for connection. Use insulated cable eyes and faston plugs.
(*) Adjust the fuses in the + cable to the maximum charging current. Also fit
a 2AT fuse between the minus terminal of the relay (pin 86) and ground.
PIN 30 = Main/start battery (Battery 1)
PIN 86 = minus/chassis
PIN 87 = Accessory battery (Battery 2)
PIN 85 = Start assist
