Network Protocols

Determining Enabled Protocols

All protocols can be enabled and disabled. The Configuration Page displays which
protocols are enabled. If a protocol is enabled, the field for that protocol lists the current
parameters. If the protocol is disabled, the field for that protocol contains an entry reading

Off

.

Disabling and Enabling Protocols

After your network configuration is complete, you may want to disable protocols that you
are not using to avoid unnecessary network traffic. There are four ways to disable
protocols:

Use the printer’s front panel — see

page 32

.

Using CentreWare DP — In NetWare environments, you can use CentreWare DP. See
the

CentreWare DP Setup and User Guide

.

Using CentreWare IS — see

page 32

.

With a TCP/IP connection and a World Wide Web browser, you can use CentreWare
IS.

Using PostScript Utility Files

Send the appropriate PostScript utility file to the printer. See the

ReadMe

 files on the

printer’s CD-ROM. The PC

ReadMe

 file is in the

UTILS

 directory; the Macintosh

ReadMe

 file is in the

Network Utilities

 folder.

You can enable protocols by the same procedure. Just select the command to enable a
protocol rather than disable it.
