About Marks
Different types of marks are used to ensure alignment.
• Tandem Marks (Registration Marks, Registration of Form (ROF) Marks, Page ID Marks)
Tandem marks are used in tandem, or duplex, print lines to ensure alignment of the
primary / upstream CiPress
™
and the secondary / downstream CiPress
™
.
Note
Tandem marks may also be used in a single-engine print line for duplex printing
employing an internal duplex path.
A tandem mark consists of a Registration Mark, optionally followed by a Page ID
Mark. The Registration Mark may be pre-printed but if it is not, it is printed by the
primary CiPress
™
on all pages. (Pre-printed registration marks are referred to as Top
of Form (TOF) Marks.) The Page ID Mark is never pre-printed. Instead, it is printed
by the primary CiPress
™
following the Registration Mark. The operator can choose to
disable printing of the Page ID Mark for job pages. The Page ID Mark is always printed
for job pages.
• Top of Form (TOF) Marks
Top of Form marks are used by the primary CiPress
™
and post-processing equipment
for alignment and / or processing. TOF marks may be pre-printed, or printed by the
primary CiPress
™
and / or secondary CiPress
™
. TOF marks appear as a solid, filled
rectangle.
