Note
The set of supported print line devices is predefined, and cannot be modified by an
operator. However, operators can create and save specific print line setups for the typical
configurations used in their printing environment. An operator can also define a set of
processing marks, and associate the marks with any defined print line.
A limited number of attributes of the currently selected print line can be modified. If
you attempt to change any of these, you will be warned that the changes will be applied
immediately, that is, the change will affect both the definition, and the Run view selection.
After making changes, you may need to restart the system.
A print line is defined on three sub-tabs:
• Paper path

Create, edit, or delete a paper path

Select a device to add to a paper path

Select marks to use with a paper path

Add, view, or edit a device

View the attributes of a selected device

Select a predefined device type

Enter PLB (print line bus) address

Enter serial number for a device

Define synchronization marks for post-processing devices
Note
Defining a print line may not be required after initial setup and configuration of the
system. However, some printing environments may add a new device, such as a finisher,
to a print line for selected jobs. This would require creating and using a new print line
definition.
Caution
When running in dual simplex, the system does not prevent the selection of two print
lines (one including the primary / upstream CiPress
™
and the other including the secondary
/ downstream CiPress
™
) that both include the same PPE. It is the responsibility of the
operator to ensure that conflicting PPE assignments are not made between print lines.
Creating a Paper Path Definition
These steps presume that devices have already been created and are available on the
Device menu.
