Using Downloader
Downloader allows you to send PostScript, EPS, and PDF files directly to the
DocuColor 40 CP without using the application they were created in. It also enables
you to manage printer fonts on the DocuColor 40 CP.
You can use Downloader from a remote workstation. Downloader requires a network
connection—you cannot use Downloader with the parallel port. For information on
supported networking protocols, see Getting Started.

:
The Windows and Mac OS versions of Downloader are fundamentally the
same; differences are noted in this chapter. Where a window or dialog box is illustrated,
the Windows version comes first, followed by the Mac OS version.
Using Downloader
You can use Downloader to:
• Send PostScript, EPS, and PDF files to the DocuColor 40 CP
• Check the status of the DocuColor 40 CP
• Manage the PostScript printer fonts stored on the DocuColor 40 CP hard disk (this
feature requires use of the Direct connection)

Downloader was designed specifically for the DocuColor 40 CP; you cannot use
it with any other printer.

Launch Downloader.
2.
Select the DocuColor 40 CP in the Chooser window and click OK (Windows) or Connect
(Mac OS).
