Optional ICC color management for advanced users
The Pure Black Text and Graphics feature affects only black text and line art elements
defined in RGB as R0%, G0%, B0%, or in CMYK as C0%, M0%, Y0%, K100%. It
does not affect colors in continuous tone images. Black text and line art are printed
using black toner only at the copier’s maximum toner density. This feature eliminates
the potential for
blasting
and misregistration of colors that exists when using a four-
color black.

PostScript applications (for example, QuarkXPress) may convert elements
defined as R0%, G0%, B0% to four-color CMYK black before sending the job to the
DocuColor 40 CP. These elements are not affected by the Pure Black Text and
Graphics feature; i.e., they print as four-color black.
Black Overprint
The Black Overprint feature provides overprinting of black text (defined in RGB as
R0%, G0%, B0%, or in CMYK as C0%, M0%, Y0%, K100%) on colored
backgrounds. This feature eliminates any potential for halo effects or misregistration of
colors.
Spot Color Matching
The Spot Color Matching feature provides automatic matching of PANTONE library
colors with their best CMYK equivalents. The DocuColor 40 CP uses its built-in
lookup table to generate the closest CMYK matches of PANTONE colors your copier
can produce.
Optional ICC color management for advanced users
This section describes how the ICC color management systems implemented on
Mac OS and Windows platforms can be used in combination with DocuColor 40 CP
color management. You do not need to use the Mac OS or Windows color
management systems to get good color printing results—the DocuColor 40 CP
provides its own built-in color management. This information is provided for
advanced users with particular customization requirements.
Color management on Mac OS computers
The Mac OS includes the ICC ColorSync 2.x color management system. The
AdobePS 8.5.1 printer driver (included in the DocuColor 40 CP user software)
supports ColorSync 2.x features and all other PostScript Level 2 and 3 printing
features. You can use the AdobePS printer driver to control color conversions of RGB
