008-701 Area 2 Jam RAP
The Control Logic has detected the signal, Duplex Entrance Sensor (L) +5 VDC or the Control
Logic did not detect the signal, Registration Sensed (L) +5 VDC within the set time limit.
Initial Actions
•
Pull out the Duplex Tray Assembly and remove all papers.
•
Open the Right Duplex Cover and remove any paper from this area.
Procedure
Ensure that there are no bits of paper or other obstructions on the Duplex Entrance Sensor (PL
15.3). Enter the diagnostic mode and enter [DI-91]. The display indicates a “1”.

Go to Flag 4. Check the wire for a short circuit to ground. If the wire is good, replace the
Duplex Entrance Sensor (PL 15.3). If the problem continues, replace the Duplex Control-
ler PWB (PL 15.6).
Insert a piece of paper over the Duplex Entrance Sensor. Close the Duplex Tray. Enter the
diagnostic code [DI-91]. The display indicates a “0”.

Go to Flag 1. Check the wires for a short circuit to ground. If the wires are good, replace
the Duplex Entrance Sensor (PL 15.3). If the problem continues, replace the Duplex Con-
troller PWB (PL 15.6).

4.6). Enter the diagnostic mode and enter [DI-29]. The display indicates a “1”.

Go to Flag 5. Check the wire for a short circuit to ground. If the wire is good, replace the
Registration Sensor (PL 4.6). If the problem continues, replace the MCU PWB (PL 11.2).
Insert a piece of paper over the Registration Sensor. Close the Bypass Tray/ Paper Transport.
Enter the diagnostic code [DI-29]. The display indicates a “0”.

Go to Flag 2. Check the wires for a short circuit to ground. If the wires are good, replace
the Registration Sensor (PL 4.6). If the problem continues, replace the MCU PWB (PL
11.2).
Check the Duplex Entrance and Exit Chute for obstructions. Clean the Duplex Entrance Roll
and Exit Roll (PL 15.3). Enter the diagnostic mode and enter [DO-A2]. There is 0 VDC from
J 141 pin 9 to ground.

Replace the Duplex Controller PWB (PL 15.6).
To to Flag 3. Check the wires for an open or a short circuit to ground. If the wires are good,
replace the Duplex Drive Clutch (PL 15.4).
