Start the engine and turn the lighting switch ON. Check
that the proper charging occurs at the specified engine
speeds shown in the following table. (values in the table
indicate minimum limit. Therefore , they should be more
than indicated under normal condition.)
Note:
Be sure to use a battery which is completely charged.
When connecting the pocket tester terminals, be sure
to differentiate the two terminals, plug

and minus
○
-
.
STD charging performance
Night time above 0.8A at 4000r/min.
CHARGING OUTPUT CHECK
Start the engine and keep it turning at 5000r/min with
lighting switch turn ON.Using the pocket tester, measure
the DC voltage between the battery terminal and If the
tester under or over following specification, check stator
coil resistance and regulator/ rectifier.
Regulated voltage 14.0-15.0 at 5000 r/min
Note: when making this test, be sure that the battery is fully-charged condition.
LIGHTING PERFORMANCE CHECK
Set the pocket tester knob(ACV 25 ranger)
Connect the terminal as shown in figure
Turn the lighting switch to ON position
Start engine
Check that the voltmeter reads as follows.
Lighting oil output
above 11V at 2500r/min
Regulated voltage
13.4-14.5at 5000r/min
REGULATOR/RECTIFIER
Using the pocket tester (x1k
Ω
range), measure the resistance between the terminal of the
regulator/rectifier.
If the resistance checked is incorrect, replace the regulator/rectifier.
Caution:
as transistors, capacitors, Zener diodes, etc. are used inside this regulator/rectifier, the resistance
values will differ when an ohmmeter other than pocket tester is used.
If the transistor in the regulator/rectifier is in OFF condition, ohmmeter indicates the valve , in this
case touch the other terminals and recheck the regulator/rectifier.
STATOR COILYS
Use the pocket tester or an ohm meter and measure the each coil for resistance.If the resistance
checked is incorrect, replace the coil.
