Power Management
Power-Saving States 3 - 9

Hibernate
Hibernate
uses the least amount of power of all the power-saving states and saves
all of your information on a part of the hard disk before it turns the system off. If a
power failure occurs the system can restore your work from the hard disk; if a power
failure occurs when work is saved only to memory, then the work will be lost.
Hi-
bernate
will also return you to where you last left off within seconds. You should
put your mobile PC into
Hibernate
if you will not use the computer for a period of
time, and will not have the chance to charge the battery. To add
Hibernate
to the
Power Menu
see
“Adding Hibernate/Sleep to the Power Menu” on page 3 - 11
.
Shut down
You should
Shut down
the computer if you plan to install new hardware, plan to be
away from the computer for several days, or you do not need it to wake up and run
a scheduled task. Returning to full operation from
Shut down
takes longer than from
Sleep
or
Hibernate
.
