Appendix B
VMEbus CONNECTOR/PIN DESCRIPTION
The XVME-500 and XVME-590 Modules are VMEbus compatible boards. There is
one 96-pin bus connector on the rear edge of the board labeled Pl (refer to
Chapter 2, Figure 2-1 for the location) and the XVME-590 also uses the P2
connector.
The signals carried by connector PI are the standard address, data, and
control signals required for a PI backplane interface, as defined by the VMEbus
specification.
Table B-l identifies and defines the signals carried by the Pl
connector. Table B-3 shows the pin-outs for the P2 connector.

Signal Name and Description
AC FAILURE: Open-collectors driven signal which
indicates that the AC input to the power supply is no
longer being provided, o r t h a t t h e r e q u i r e d i n p u t
voltage levels are not being met.
INTERRUPT ACKNOWLEDGE IN: Totem-pole driven
signal. IACKIN* and IACKOUT* signals form a daisy-
chained acknowledge. The IACKIN* signal indicates to
t h e V M E b o a r d t h a t a n a c k n o w l e d g e c y c l e i s i n
progress.
INTERRUPT ACKNOWLEDGE OUT: Totem-pole driven
signal. IACKIN* and IACKOUT* signals form a daisy-
chained acknowledge.
The IACKOUT* signal indicates
to the next board that an acknowledge cycle is in
progress.
ADDRESS MODIFIER (bits O-5): Three-state driven
lines that provide additional information about the
address bus, such as: size, cycle type, and/or DTB
master identification.
ADDRESS STROBE: Three-state driven signal that
indicates a valid address is on the address bus.
