Thermistor Chain
The thermistor chain is customized to project specific
requirements (number of thermistors, spacing/depth) and
supplied with the components required to mount on a
DB600 buoy. Some final assembly is required before
deployment. The steps are:
1.
Connect the top shackle to the mounting bracket at
the side of the DB600 instrument tube. This ensures
that the thermistors are held at the correct depth.
2.
Secure the thermistor chain to the outside of the
instrument tube using cable ties, threading inside at
the uppermost hole. This prevents the sonde
damaging the cable inside the tube.
3.
Most applications require the thermistor chain to
hang free from the buoy for correct depth spacing.
Alternatively, the thermistor may be cable tied to
the mooring line depending on project
requirements. A small weight has been provided to
keep the chain taut however a larger weight may be
required to suit water currents on site.
4.
Bundle the remaining cable and push into the
instrument tube at the top of the buoy.
5.
Where multiple bulkhead connectors are used,
ensure the correct cable is inserted into each
connector, paying attention to the correct
alignment. For maximum life, lubricate the pins
with dielectric grease before mating to prevent
corrosion. The grease supplied with the sonde is
suitable.
Refer to Table 3 on page 22 for details on the wiring inside
the Ai1.
