Warning and safety information

The titration unit conforms to protection class II. It has been built, tested in accordance with DIN EN 61 010,
Part 1, Protection Measures for Electronic Measuring Instruments and has left the factory in perfect safety-
technical condition. In order to maintain this condition and to ensure safe operation the user must observe
all the instructions and warnings contained in these operating instructions. The deve-
lopment and production is carried out in a system which meets the requirements of the DIN EN ISO 9001
standard.

For safety reasons the titration unit may only be opened by authorised persons; for example, work on the
electrical equipment may only be performed by trained specialists.

!

In case of non-observance the titration unit

may cause danger: electrical accidents of people or

fire hazard. In addition, in case of unauthorized intervention in the titration unit as well as in the
case of negligent or deliberate damage, the warranty will expire.

!

Prior to switching the device on, it has to be made sure that the operating voltage of the titration unit and the
mains voltage match. The operating voltage is indicated on the rating plate. If this provision is not observed,
the titration unit can be damaged and personal or material damage can occur.

If it has to be assumed that a safe operation is no longer possible, the titration unit has to be put out of
operation and secured against inadvertent putting to operation. Please switch the titration unit off, pull out
the mains cable from the socket, and remove the titration unit from the place of work.

Instances of reasons to assume that a safe operation is no longer possible:

Ü

 the packaging is damaged

Ü

the titration unit shows visible damages

Ü

the titration unit does not operate properly

Ü

liquid has penetrated into the titration unit.

The titration unit must not be operated or stored in wet rooms.

For safety reasons the titration unit must be used for the range of application described in the operating in-
structions only. Experience of using the titration unit for different purposes or with different liquids are not on
hand.

!

The relevant regulations for handling the materials used have to be observed:

 the

Hazardous-Matters Ordinance, the Law on Chemicals and the rules and notes of the chemical trade. The
user has to make sure that the persons entrusted with the operation of this titration unit are qualified in the
handling of the substances used in the titration unit and in connection with it.

Liquids with a high vapour pressure and/or matters or mixed matters not qualified for use in the technical
data of the titration unit must not be used.

During any work with titration solutions:

!

Protective glasses have to be worn!

!

Owing to the characteristics of the system, a microfilm of the dosing fluid remains on the internal wall of the
cylinder when the piston rises in the cylinder but this has not influence on the dosage accuracy. The minimal
residue of fluid may evaporate, however, and thus get into the zone beneath the piston, and if materials are
used which are not permitted, the material of the titration unit may be dissolved or corroded (refer to "Main-
tenance and care of the titration unit ").

The titration unit is equipped with integrated circuits (EPROMs). X-rays or other high-energy radiation may
penetrate through the device housing and delete the program.

Please also observe the relevant operating instructions for any units to be connected.
