Battery Replacement

Note: New instruments come with a pre-installed battery. Perform the following procedure when replacing the battery.

1. Remove battery cover

The battery cover is located on the back of the ProDSS. To remove the battery
cover, unscrew (counter-clockwise) the four screws.

Note: The battery cover screws are captive and cannot be removed.

2. Remove old Li-Ion battery pack and gasket/cradle

With two fingers, grasp the black connector that connects the battery to the
instrument. Pull the connector straight up to disconnect. Once disconnected,
remove the battery pack and the battery gasket/cradle.

A new gasket/cradle is included with each battery pack and should replace
the old gasket/cradle to prevent water leaking into the instrument casing.

3. Insert new Li-Ion battery pack and gasket/cradle

Inspect the new battery pack and battery gasket/cradle for damage. Please
contact YSI customer service if the new battery pack and/or replacement
gasket is damaged.

Carefully insert the new gasket and ensure it is seated properly. Align the
battery pack connector wire terminals with the three instrument pins, then
connect the battery pack to the instrument.

4. Replace battery cover

Ensure the battery gasket/cradle is properly seated and carefully reinstall the
battery cover.

     CAUTION:

Do not over-tighten the cover screws. This may cause damage

to the instrument and/or cover which may allow water to leak into the

battery compartment.

Charging the instrument after replacing the battery is not required. New
batteries are shipped at less than 50% full capacity. To charge the instrument,
use the AC power adapter, a computer USB port, or an external USB battery
pack. Always charge the instrument in an open area away from flammable
materials, liquids and surfaces.

DO NOT

charge or handle batteries that are

hot to the touch.
