The
VX-8DR
always displays the “Battery Voltage” and “Current Time” while the
VX-
8DR
is operating in the “Mono” band mode with the
Large
characters, the
VX-8DR
can
display various information provided by internal sensors. Avail-
able selections are “Battery Voltage”, “Temperature”, “Audio
Wave-form”, “Current Barometric Pressure”, “Current Altitude”,
and “off”.
The Barometric Pressure sensor requires calibration of the “offset” parameters, so that
differences in pressure can be used to calculate altitude. This procedure requires that you
have a calibrated barometer, and that you know your current altitude. If you are at sea
level, of course, the latter parameter requires no research.
The Sensor mode is only displayed while the VX-8DR is operating in the
Mono band mode with the Large characters. The internal sensor takes mea-
surements continuously unless the Sensor mode is disabled.
To display the sensor information:
1.
Press and hold the
key for one second to enter the Set Mode.
2.
Rotate the
DIAL
knob to select Set Mode Item
84: SEN-
SOR DISPLAY
.
3.
Press the
key briefly to enable adjustment of this Set
Mode Item.
4.
Rotate the
DIAL
knob to select the sensor mode you wish to display.
DC
:
Indicates the battery voltage and bat-
tery type.
TEMP
: Indicates the current temperature in-
side the transceiver’s case.
WAVE
: Depicts the (RX and TX) audio
wave-form.
BARO
: Indicates the Barometric Pressure.
ALTI
:
Indicates the Altitude.
OFF
:
Disables the sensor information (In-
dicates the “Current Time” only).
5.
Press the
PTT
switch briefly to exit to nor-
mal operation and display the sensor infor-
mation on the display.
You may monitor the sensor informa-
tion (Temp, Baro, and Alti) at the same time, using
Set Mode Item 85: SENSOR INFO.
