APRS M
ESSAGE
1. Set the “B-Band” to the APRS frequency. 144.390 MHz is generally used in North
America. If you don’t know the APRS frequency for your country, ask your dealer.
The AX.25 modem is not activated in the “A-Band”.

When the Receiver Battery Saver is turned on, the VX-8R cannot reliably receive
APRS Messages.
3. Press the
key several times until the APRS MESSAGE
screen appears on the display.
The APRS MESSAGE screen stores up to 20 stations. The
stations are sorted according to the time the station mes-
sage is received.
4. To confirm the received message, rotate the
DIAL
knob (or
press the
/
keys) keys) to select the desired mes-
sage, then press the
key.
5. Rotate the
DIAL
knob (or press the
/
keys) to scroll through additional lines or
pages of the received stations message.
6. When you have finished reading your message, press the
key to return to the
APRS MESSAGE screen.
Delete the Received Message from the “APRS MESSAGE” Screen
1. Press the
key several times until the APRS MESSAGE
screen appears on the display.
2. Rotate the
DIAL
knob (or press the

keys) to select
the message to be deleted.
3. Press the
key. The confirmation message (

will appear on the display. Press the
key once more and
the selected message will be deleted from the APRS MES-
SAGE screen.
