will freewheel down the grade, possibly causing injury
or property damage.
The lift trucks covered in this manual may be equipped with
an Optional Operator Presence System. This features an
electrical sensor switch in the seat which senses the pres-
ence of the operator and a seat belt switch which detects
when the seat belt is fastened. This system is designed
with a slight delay in the seat switch and seat belt switch to
allow the operator to reposition himself without disengaging
the transmission and disabling the hydraulic mast func-
tions.
The operator must be on the seat and the seat belt must be
fastened before engaging the starter. If the operator leaves
the seat while the truck is moving, or does not apply the
parking brake before getting off the seat, the seat switch
will disengage the transmission and disable the hydraulic
mast functions.
When the operator returns to the seat, if it was not set, the
parking brake must be applied and released.
