Connecting/Disconnecting the CRW-F1DX
Drive to/from the Computer
The CRW-F1DX drive can be connected/disconnected whether the computer and the
drive are turned on or off (hot plug).
However, follow the steps below to disconnect the CRW-F1DX drive from the
computer turned on or to turn off the drive connected to the computer.

Quit the writing software and the playback software if they are activated.

Be sure to remove any disc from the disc tray.
For Macintosh
Disconnect the CRW-F1DX drive.
For Windows XP
Select Safely Remove Hardware on the task bar and follow the steps on the screen
to disconnect the drive.
For Windows 2000 Professional/Me
Select Unplug or Eject Hardware on the task bar and follow the steps on the screen
to remove the drive.
For Windows 98 Second Edition
Disconnect the CRW-F1DX drive.
• Be sure not to disconnect the CRW-F1DX drive or connect/disconnect other
IEEE1394/USB devices from the computer when writing with the drive.
• When connecting with IEEE1394 for Windows 98 Second Edition, do not disconnect
IEEE1394 device from the computer turned on to avoid improper operation.
Note
When connecting with IEEE1394, be sure not to turn off the CRW-F1DX
connected to the computer turned on. The computer or other IEEE1394 devices
may not operate properly depending on a type of host adapter or a CD writing
software. Disconnect the CRW-F1DX drive from the computer prior to turning off
the drive.
