OPTICAL PICKUP SELF-DIAGNOSIS AND REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
The optical pickup self-diagnosis function and tilt adjustment check function have been newly added to this player. When repair-
ing, use the following procedure for effective Self-diagnosis and tilt adjustment.
Be sure to use the self-diagnosis function before replacing the optical pickup when “NO DISC” is displayed. As a guideline, you
should replace the optical pickup when the value of the laser drive current is more than 55.
Note
Press the power button to turn on the power, and check the value before the unit warms up (within three minutes).
"NO DISC" is displayed,
unit does not play smoothly, etc.
Replace the optical pickup
(Refer to Assembling and
Disassembling the Optical
Pickup, page 17.)
Do the optical pickup
tilt adjustment.

Check the laser drive
current after replacement.
• Write the present value into
the unit if it is 45 or less.

Cause:
Damage due to static electricity during replacement.
