CHECKING THE WIRE HARNESS (YUM1A/
YUM2A)
1. Check:
• Wire harness
Cracks/frayed/corrosive
→
Replace.
TESTING THE DISCHARGE LOAD (YUM2E)
1. Check:
• Discharge load
Refer to “Discharge Load Test” on page
8-73.
CHECKING THE REAR AXLE BEARINGS
The following procedure applies to both of the
rear wheel bearings.
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply
the parking brake.
2. Remove:
• Rear wheel
Refer to “FRONT AND REAR WHEELS” on
page 4-16.
3. Release the parking brake.
4. Move the shift lever to the neutral position.
(YUM1A/YUM2A)
5. Move the tow switch to the “TOW” position.
(YUM2E)
6. Check:
• Rear axle bearing
Rattle/abnormal noises/turns roughly
→
Re-
place.
a. Turn the rear axle slowly by hand.
b. Move the rear axle up and down.
CHECKING THE STEERING KNUCKLES
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply
the parking brake.
2. Raise the front end of the vehicle so that
there is no weight on the front wheels.
3. Check:
• Steering knuckle
Excessive free play
→
Replace the steering
knuckle.
Refer to “FRONT SUSPENSION COMPO-
NENTS” on page 4-32.
ADJUSTING THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply
the parking brake.
2. Measure:
• Toe-in
Out of specification
→
Adjust.
TIP
Before measuring the toe-in, make sure that the
tire pressure is correct.
a. Mark both front tire tread centers.
b. Face the steering wheel straight ahead.
c. Measure the width “A” between the marks.
d. Rotate the front tires 180° until the marks
are exactly opposite one another.
e. Measure the width “B” between the marks.
