CHECKING THE CLUTCH SPRINGS
The following procedure applies to all of the clutch
springs.
1. Check:
• clutch spring
Damage

Replace the springs as a set.
2. Measure:
• spring free length

Out of specification
-->
Replace the clutch
springs as a set.
CHECKING THE CLUTCH HOUSING
1. Check:
• clutch housing dogs
Damage/Pitting/Wear
-->
Deburr or replace
the clutch housing.
Pitting on the clutch housing dogs will cause erratic
clutch operation.
NOTE:
2. Check:
• clutch boss splines
Damage/Wear
-->
Deburr or replace the
clutch boss.

41.60 mm (1.64 in)
<Limit>: 39.60 mm (1.56 in)

• driven gear
Damage/Wear
-->
Replace the driven gear
and the clutch housing as a set.
Excessive noise during the operation
-->
Replace the driven gear and the clutch
housing as a set.
