When installing the filter, screw on the replaceable filter by
hand as far as it will go.
LUBRICATION SYSTEM DIFFERENTIAL VALVE
The lubrication system oil pump capacity is calculated with
allowance for worn-out friction pairs of the engine which has been in
operation until its scheduled overhaul, including low-speed operation
mode. During the engine operation this amount of oil is not actually
required.
The lubrication system differential valve is used to discharge
excess oil from the system into the oil sump.
The valve is installed in the service module housing in the oil
line downstream of the L/O HE and upstream of the oil filter.
The valve is adjusted for the start of opening at 5 kgf/cm
2
. The
valve is adjusted by preloading the spring and using the adjustment
washers under it. When this pressure value after the filter is reached,
clean oil forces the plunger to compress the spring, and the dirty oil
channel is connected through the circular groove with the channel
discharging oil into the oil sump.
In this way part of the oil which the engine does not require at
the moment is discharged back to the oil sump bypassing the oil filter
and unloading the filter element thus extending its replacement period.
