Transparent Mode Details
You can connect any type of slave in this mode. However, you can connect only one M-II slave
station to the GW3100.
Also, the GW3100 can receive data for only the M-II-compatible profile. The GW3100 sends
the received command to the M-II station without modification and then it returns the response
from the slave station to the host controller without any modification.
The flow of the command and response data in Transparent Mode is illustrated in the following
figures.
Command Data Flow in Transparent Mode
If you connect a Servo Drive, Stepping Motor Drive, or Inverter, you must set the same value for
the M-II communications cycle and M-III communications cycle. Also, there will be a larger delay
in responding to commands compared with directly connected slave stations because the com-
mands and responses go through the GW3100. The master station must consider the response
delay when it processes the response data.
