Setting the Parameters for Pack Mode
This section describes how to set the parameters for Pack Mode. Set the MODE pin on the DIP
switch to OFF before starting the GW3100. Start the Configuration Tool and make the settings
on the Main Window as described below.
Mode (Operating Mode)
If the MODE pin is set to OFF when the GW3100 is started, the I/O Gateway Mode is
selected automatically.
Make sure that “I/O gateway mode” is displayed.
M-III port setting (M-III port communications settings)
Multi slave
(number of multi-slave stations) and
Transmission byte
(number of transmission
bytes): Determine the settings based on the communications settings of the M-III master sta-
tion and the number of M-II slave stations that are connected.
Mode
(operating mode): Select
Pack mode
.
M-II port setting (M-II port communications settings)
Transmission byte
(number of transmission bytes): Determine the setting based on M-II
slave station specifications.
Transmission cycle
and
Number of retry to slaves
(number of slave station retries): The
values that you can set are determined by the number of transmission bytes and the number
of connected nodes. Select suitable values.
We recommend that you set the transmission cycle to an integral multiple or integral division
of the M-III transmission cycle that is set in the M-III master station. We also recommend that
you set the largest possible value for the number of slave station retries.
Number of slaves
(number of connected nodes): Set the number of M-II slave stations that
are connected.
Link assignment setting (link assignment settings)
Type
and
Adr
(station address): Set the information for the connected M-II slave stations.
Assign
(assigned station): Of the M-III stations determined by the setting of the number of
mult-slave stations, select the station where this device is to be mapped. If the number of
multi-slave stations is set to 1, the assigned station is always 1.
Offset: Set the location of the output data/input data for this station in the M-III command/
response data. Do not allow this data to overlap with data for other M-II slave stations.
Input
and
Output
: Set these values based on the output data sizes and input data sizes of
the connected M-II slave stations.
