Z21 XL BOOSTER
31
Finally, the Z21
XL BOOSTER
can be connected to a third-party control center via the three-pole "CDE"
interface. The CDE interface is an older, but still widely used standard and is offered by many control cen
-
ter manufacturers. It is recommended to use a twisted cable for terminals "C" and "D", via which the data
signal is transmitted from the central unit to the booster. If the booster is also connected to the central
unit via terminal "E", the booster can report a short circuit back to the central unit and thus cause all other
track outputs to be switched off. For these cables, a normal cable cross-section can be used, because
no high power is transmitted at the CDE interface itself.
INFO
: The maximum number of boosters that can be connected to each other or to the same
central unit depends on the connection lengths between the boosters, the individual units, and
the resulting total length, as well as the central unit used.
CAN:
Up to twenty
Z21 XL BOOSTERS
with up to 300 m total cable length can be connected
to one Z21 XL Series control panel. The
Z21 XL BOOSTER
accepts the DCC and Motorola
protocols.
Attention:
Avoid using different types of connection in one booster string at the same time.
Stick to one of the three possible connection types.
An example for a wrong set-up: CAN- and B-Bus are mixed or even used in parallel in the
following picture at the end.
