WARNING: Take great care when
cutting a tree that is in tension. A tree
that is in tension may spring back to its
normal position before or after being cut.
If you position yourself incorrectly or
make the cut in the wrong place the tree
may hit you or the product and cause
you to lose control. Both situations can
cause serious personal injury.
5. If you must cut across tree/limb, make two to three
cuts, one inch apart, one to two inches deep.
6. Continue to cut deeper until tree/limb bends and
tension is released.
7. Cut tree/limb from outside the bend, after tension
has been released.
Winter use
Running problems can occur when using the product in
cold and snowy conditions. These problems are caused
by too low engine temperature or icing on the air filter
and carburettor.
There are a few measures required to prevent these
problems:
• Partly mask the air inlet on the starter to increase the
working temperature of the engine.
• Preheat the intake air to the carburetor. Use the heat
from the cylinder.
To prevent problems in cold and snowy
conditions
The intermediate wall is designed so it can be adjusted
for cold weather use, so that preheated air from the
cylinder can pass into the carburetor space. This
prevents icing of the air filter etcetera.
1. In temperatures below 0°C, loosen the screws on the
front handle and detach it from its mounting.
2. Loosen the screws that hold the starter against the
crankcase and remove the starter.
3. Detach and replace the air guide plate (black) with
the air guide plate (blue) for winter use.
4. Detach the DF guide from the black air guide plate
and mount it on the blue air guide plate.
5. Remove the air filter cover.
6. Slide the grommet (blue) upwards from the closed
position to the open position. Use a screwdriver.
7. Make sure that the rib of the grommet is aligned with
the snow mark.
