PAGING FORMATS
Figure D-59. Paging Format Window
If a paging format was selected, a sequence of windows will then be displayed to receive the
page parameters unique to that selected format. Except for the “Alerts” paging format, the
choices are self-explanatory and the valid input ranges are displayed for all numeric entries.
Most formats request a “Talk Time” value. When the page is finished, the audio source is
switched to the microphone and the transmitter remains keyed up for the duration of the
programmed talk time before going on to the next page in the stack. This talk time may be
extended or canceled by pressing the “TRANSMIT” key or a PTT button. This will maintain
the talk time until the key is released, even if the programmed value has not yet expired.
Entering a value of zero will disable this feature for the selected paging format.
The “Alerts” paging format allows you to add various alert tones to your pages. Five Alerts
and a “delay” function are provided in the Model 4010 console.
The following list shows the page character used to generate each Alert function:
“0”
=
Beep
Alert
“1” = Slow Siren Alert
“2” = Fast Siren Alert
“3” = Hi/Lo Warble Alert
“4” = Fast Warble Alert
“D” = Delay function
For example, assuming the “Alerts” paging format has been assigned to leading digit “A”,
keying “A4” on the Model 4010 paging/DTMF keypad, would enter the Fast Warble alert on
the paging stack. To then transmit the stacked page(s) on the selected channel(s), press the
“PAGE SEND” key.
Alert tones 1 through 4 are predefined in the Model 4010 console. The Beep Alert and Delay
function are defined by you via the windows shown in Figure D-60.
