INTRODUCTION
The CellPhone Detector Plus
senses the radio frequency (RF)
transmissions from nearby cellular telephones, personal
communication service (PCS) phones, two-way radios, and
other wireless communication devices. When a transmission is
detected, an “Alarm” cycle begins that includes a voice
message requesting users to turn off their communication
devices.
Because the sensitivity of the CellPhone Detector Plus is fully
adjustable and the unit can be powered by an AC adapter or
batteries, and many features can be switched on or off as
needed, the CellPhone Detector Plus can be adjusted to suit
almost any facility or application. In addition, the Alarm Output
and Audio Output on the CellPhone Detector Plus can be used
to generate remote alarms and extend alarm messages into
other areas.
This guide provides detailed information about the CellPhone
Detector Plus. For best operation, please carefully read all the
information in this guide prior to using or installing the unit.
OVERVIEW
Studies show that many types of sensitive electronic
equipment malfunction when exposed to radio energy. Any
common transmitter, such as a cellular telephone or two-way
radio, emits this energy.
Many healthcare institutions, utility company control rooms,
and manufacturing organizations have already moved to ban
cellular phones, PCS and other wireless radio transmitters
throughout their facilities. Others restrict transmissions near
particularly sensitive equipment.
The CellPhone Detector Plus helps enforce such policies by
constantly monitoring for the presence of cellular phone, PCS
and two-way radio transmissions. When a transmission is
detected, an alarm sounds. The alarm consists of an audio
message (beeps plus voice) and a bright red flashing light.
