12 Maintenance
12.1 Safety note
DANGER:
Risk of fatal injury due to hazardous voltage!
Power voltage may be present both at the product and at the machine or system if the safety relay is switched
off.
Ö
Disconnect the unit from the power supply and discharge all residual current from it just as you would for a
device without a safety relay.
Health hazard from deficient safety units
Disassembling safety units during repair and maintenance of the machine or system can cause serious injury or
death.
Ö
Restore the safety devices to their original functional condition and check their functionality immediately after
completing repair and maintenance tasks.
WARNING
Health hazard caused by automatic starting
When work is being carried out on the machine or system, there is the danger that it might start automatically.
This can cause serious injury!
Working in the danger zone:
Ö
Switch off the superordinate power supply and secure it from restarting (main switch for the overall systems).
Ö
Make sure that no one is located in the danger zone before the machine or system is switched back on
again!
Risk of injury caused by falling loads
Improper handling of hanging loads can cause serious injuries! Note the following points:
Ö
Secure hanging loads by using the provided attachment equipment and set workpieces down before
working in the danger zone.
Ö
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Ö
Always keep an adequate safety distance from hanging loads.
Ö
Never walk underneath hanging loads.
Risk of injury caused by heavy components
Components and tools may be heavy. Improper handling can cause serious injuries.
Ö
Use suitable hoisting devices.
CAUTION:
Damage to product from electrostatic discharge
The high voltages in the machine or system generate electrostatic charges that may damage electronic
components!
Ö
Personnel must be grounded before starting repair work or maintenance work on the machine or system by
means of a ground cable or by touching a conductive, grounded object.
Damage to the product as a result of blowing out using compressed air
Never clean the quick-change tool adapter with compressed air when it is in an installed state. When this is
done, dirt particles may end up inside the shaft of the product.
Ö
Always remove the quick-change tool adapter to clean it.
NOTICE:
Every time work has been performed on the machine, the operator of the product must perform an inspection
and document the results.
It is mandatory to observe the maintenance plan!
Maintenance work may only be carried out by qualified and trained personnel!
