5.3 PC and Device Network Segment Detection
Before using the PC to communicate with the CANET device, ensure that there is an
Ethernet card in the PC, and the PC and the CANET device must be on the same network
segment.
The CANE device is set with a default IP address (192.168.0.178) and network mask
(255.255.255.0) when it leaves the factory. Check whether the device is on the same
network segment as the user's PC according to the process shown in Figure 5.3. If you
are on the same network segment, you do not need to read the following content about
the PC network settings. If different, the following PC network settings are very important
for you.

The following describes how to make the user's PC and CANET equipment be on the
same network segment.
5.3.1 Windows98/ME Network Settings
If you use Windows 98/ME, enter the operating system, click the "Start"
"Settings"
"Control Panel" on the taskbar, and double-click the "Network" icon. The interface
shown in Figure 5.4 is displayed.
