seconds.
Max Age
This is t he m ax im um t im e ( in seconds) t he Sw it ch can w ait w it hout receiv ing a BPDU
befor e at t em pt ing t o r econfigur e. All Sw it ch port s ( except for designat ed por t s) should
r eceive BPDUs at r egular int er vals. Any por t t hat ages out STP inform at ion ( pr ov ided in
t he last BPDU) becom es t he designat ed por t for t he at t ached LAN. I f it is a r oot por t , a
new r oot por t is select ed fr om am ong t he Swit ch por t s at t ached t o t he net w or k . The
allow ed range is 6 t o 40 seconds.

This is t he m ax im um t im e ( in seconds) t he Sw it ch w ill wait befor e changing st at es. This
delay is r equir ed because ever y sw it ch m ust receive infor m at ion about t opology changes
befor e it st ar t s t o for war d fram es. I n addit ion, each por t needs t im e t o list en for
conflict ing infor m at ion t hat w ould m ake it r et ur n t o a block ing st at e; ot her w ise,
t em porar y dat a loops m ight r esult . The allow ed range is 4 t o 30 seconds. As a general

Maxim um hops
Ent er t he num ber of hops ( bet w een 1 and 255) in an MSTP r egion befor e t he BPDU is
discarded and t he por t infor m at ion is aged.

Ent er a descr ipt ive nam e ( up t o 32 charact er s) of an MST r egion.
Rev ision Num ber
Ent er a num ber t o ident ify a r egion’s configurat ion. Devices m ust have t he sam e r evision
num ber t o belong t o t he sam e r egion.

t ree inst ance.
Ent er pr ior it y values bet w een 0 and 61440 in incr em ent s of 4096 ( t hus valid values ar e
4096, 8192, 12288, 16384, 20480, 24576, 28672, 32768, 36864, 40960, 45056, 49152,
53248, 57344 and 61440) .
VLAN Range
Ent er t he st ar t of t he VLAN I D range t hat you want t o add or r em ove fr om t he VLAN range
