The Sw it ch suppor t s PAgP ( Por t Aggregat ion Pr ot ocol) , LACP ( Link Aggr egat ion Cont r ol
Pr ot ocol) and UDLD ( UniDir ect ional Link Det ect ion) t unneling for a point- t o- point t opology.
Bot h PAgP and UDLD ar e Cisco’s pr opr iet ar y dat a link layer pr ot ocols. PAgP is sim ilar t o
LACP and used t o set up a logical aggr egat ion of Et hernet por t s aut om at ically. UDLD is t o
det er m ine t he link ’s phy sical st at us and det ect a unidir ect ional link.
PAGP
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Sw it ch send PAgP packet s t o a peer t o aut om at ically negot iat e
and build a logical por t aggr egat ion.
LACP
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Sw it ch send LACP packet s t o a peer t o dy nam ically cr eat es
and m anages t runk gr oups.
UDLD
Select t his opt ion t o have t he Sw it ch send UDLD packet s t o a peer ’s por t it connect ed t o
m onit or t he physical st at us of a link .
Mode
Select Acce ss t o have t he Sw it ch encapsulat e t he incom ing layer 2 pr ot ocol packet s and
for war d t hem t o t he t unnel por t ( s) . Select Acce ss for ingr ess por t s at t he edge of t he
ser v ice prov ider 's net w ork .
Note: You can enable L2PT services for STP, LACP, VTP, CDP, UDLD, and PAGP on the
access port(s) only.
Select Tu n n e l for egress port s at t he edge of t he ser vice pr ovider 's net w or k . The Sw it ch
decapsulat es t he encapsulat ed layer 2 pr ot ocol packet s received on a t unnel por t by
changing t he dest inat ion MAC addr ess t o t he original one, and t hen for war d t hem t o an
access por t . I f t he ser vice( s) is not enabled on an access por t , t he pr ot ocol packet s ar e
dr opped.
Apply
Click Apply t o save your changes t o t he Sw it ch’s run- t im e m em ory. The Sw it ch loses t hese
changes if it is t ur ned off or loses pow er, so use t he Sa ve link on t he t op nav igat ion panel t o
save your changes t o t he non- volat ile m em ory w hen you ar e done configur ing.
