7.10.1 Profile Setup
Use the
Profile Setup
screen to configure upstream/downstream bandwidth limit, priority
level, delay priority and the MAC address learning settings. Once you have set the profile
settings, you can apply it to the ONU in the
Service Setup
(or
ONU Setup
) screens (refer to
).
Priority Level (The following descriptions are based on the traffic types defined in the IEEE 802.1d
standard (which incorporates IEEE 802.1p).
Priority 7
Typically used for network control traffic such as router configuration messages.
Priority 6
Typically used for voice traffic that is especially sensitive to jitter (jitter is the variations
in delay).
Priority 5
Typically used for video that consumes high bandwidth and is sensitive to jitter.
Priority 4
Typically used for controlled load, latency-sensitive traffic such as SNA (Systems
Network Architecture) transactions.
Priority 3
Typically used for “excellent effort” or better than best effort and would include
important business traffic that can tolerate some delay.
Priority 2
This is for “spare bandwidth”.
Priority 1
This is typically used for non-critical “background” traffic such as bulk transfers that
are allowed but that should not affect other applications and users.
Priority 0
Typically used for best-effort traffic.
IGMP
Snooping
Select this option to enable IGMP snooping.
IGMP Query
Timeout Count
Select a query timeout count. When the ONU snoops the first query, it starts the count
down. For each query the ONU snoops, this timeout count is decreased by 1. When
this number reaches zero, a group member is removed from the group if no report
message is received.
IGMP Last
Member
Select this option to set the ONU to query all group members when a group leave
message is received. This is to confirm that all group members wish to leave that
IGMP group.
Clear this option to disable this feature. When a group leave message is received, all
group members are removed from an IGMP group without confirmation checks.
IGMP Last
Member
Query Count
Select the number of times the ONU sends a group-leave query.
IGMP Last
Member
Query Interval
Select the time interval the ONU waits before sending another group-leave query.
Upstream
Multicast
forwarding
Select
Pass
to forward upstream packets with a matching multicast MAC address in
the range shown.
Select
Discard
to drop upstream packets with a matching multicast MAC address in
the range shown.
Downstream
Multicast
Forwarding
Select
Pass
to forward downstream packets with a matching multicast MAC address
in the range shown.
Select
Discard
to drop downstream packets with a matching multicast MAC address
in the range shown.
