API-560 power options

6.0 Power Options

API-560 is a portable converter and features three unique power options that will
truly assist the field camera crew and/or field production crew.

Three separate methods for powering the product are provided: (1) XLR 12V
Battery Pack Input, (2)  1394 Bus Power (via 6-pin 1394a input port); and, (3)
Universal DC Power Adapter.

6.1 XLR Portable Battery Port

The 4-pin male XLR PCB mount plug (mfg: Neutrik, p/n NC4MAH) accepts an
Anton/Bauer or similar Digital Battery, 4-pin XLR DC input, 12V to 17V, 7.5W.

The XLR is wired with Pin 1 = 0V Ground and Pin 4 = +12V.

Vydeo recommends that this wiring pin out be indicated on the front panel either
with a label or by screen-printing. Network and affiliate engineers can construct
virtually any cable assembly if they know the wiring pattern.

6.2 1394a Bus Power

Typically, 6-pin 1394a ports on most laptops, e.g., the PowerBook G4, deliver
1394 bus power to remote peripherals. API-560 will fully function and operate off
supplied 1394 bus power.

Laptop battery life will depend upon the depth and duration of transcoding
operations.

Advise end users to avoid the use of 1394 hubs.

6.3 DC Power Adapter Input

The DC power jack placed on API-560 is a CUI PJ-202A. Vydeo recommends
OEM customers specify/supply CUI DC power adapter part number
DPS12100UPS-P5P-SZ or DPS12100UPS-P5P; input = 100-240V, 50-60Hz,
0.3A; output = DC 12V@1.0A.

Digikey p/n T461-P5P-ND.

This adapter can also be purchased in a EU turret configuration.
