INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
! CAUTION
The Cable Matters Tamper-Resistant Outlet provides both
AC power and USB charging in a standard electrical outlet.
This 4 amp receptacle charges two devices simultaneously
up to 2 amps each.
•
Installation by a qualified electrician is recommended
•
Minimum 16 cu” or 3x2x 2.5” electrical box recommended
(according to NEC article 314 box fill requirements)
•
Rated for indoor use unless installed in a weather-proof cover
•
Use only copper or copper-clad wire to connect this receptacle
WIRING INSTRUCTIONS

READ BEFORE INSTALLING
1) Turn off the power at the electrical panel before installing. Verify that the power is off with a voltage tester.
2) Carefully remove the existing outlet and disconnect the wires.
3) Strip back about ½ inch (back wire) or ¾ inch (side wire) of the wire insulation, if needed.
4) Wire the receptacle according to the Side Wiring or Back Wiring (shown below).
Side Wire: Coil tightly twisted strands into a hook and loop around the screws
Back Wire: Insert tightly twisted strands under the clamp next to the screws
Note: Use the back-wire method if there are two sets of hot and neutral wires.
5) Check that no bare strands are exposed
6) Carefully replace the wires into the electrical box and attached the mounting strap to the electrical box with
the included screws. (Pro Tip: Wrap the terminals with electrical tape)
7) Screw on the faceplate with the includes faceplate screws. Do
NOT
over tighten the screws!
8) Restore power at the electrical panel.
