SUBJECT:

UNNECESSARY REPLACEMENT OF THE HYDRAULIC

COUPLERS – INCORRECT USE OR INCORRECT

MAINTENANCE OF THE HYDRAULIC COUPLERS

DESCRIPTION

The information in the service bulletin will provide information on how to maintain hydraulic couplers properly.

Unnecessary hydraulic coupler replacement

People replace the hydraulic couplers unnecessarily for the following issues:
• Leaks due to contamination

NOTE:

See the section “Hydraulic coupler oil leakage:”.

• Hard to connect or disconnect

NOTE:

See the section “A Jammed latching ball can make the hydraulic coupler difficult to connect or disconnect.”

• The hose ends eject from the hydraulic coupler

NOTE:

See the section “Male implement ends pop out of the hydraulic coupler”.

Incorrect use and incorrect maintenance of a hydraulic coupler

Incorrect use and incorrect maintenance of the hydraulic coupler can shorten the service life of the hydraulic cou-

pler. The following are examples of incorrect use or incorrect maintenance that can cause a hydraulic coupler fail-

ure:
• Someone who connects the hydraulic coupler where contamination such as dirt and debris is present
• Someone who connects the hydraulic coupler to a male hydraulic coupler that has damaged components, dirty

components, or worn components

• The use of excessive force to disconnect the hydraulic coupler
