Mounting
The mounting platform must be able to withstand the loads the winch
can handle. Screw down the winch firmly with 3 screws using washers,
spring washers, and locking nuts in the picture below.
Use
Do not put more of a load on the winch than it can withstand as
indicated in the specifications. The figure for capacity is based on
the assumption that a layer of line has been spooled on to
the drum. As the line is spooled on to the drum, capacity diminishes.
Get recommendations on the suitable line diameter and type from
the manufacturer. Fasten the hook firmly to the line with a suitable
fastening tool. When fastening the line to the drum there must always be
4 to 6 turns wound on the drum to ensure a secure friction seating.
Make sure the line is correctly spooled on the drum.
Never pull the line all the way out when it is loaded!
Inspection and maintenance
• Moving parts such as gears, clicks and axles must be kept clean
and greased for correct and safe operation,
• Parts may be corroded by chemicals, salts, and rust and should
therefore be inspected .before each use.
• Do not use the winch if the line is even the least damaged or
shows signs of fatigue.
• Make sure no hands are near loaded lines, cables, drums, pulleys,
etc. when operating the winch.
Warning 1
Boat trailers that have no keel or side rollers should be immersed in
the water when pulling it in so the boat can float its way up on to
the trailer. If a trailer of this sort (without rollers) is not immersed any
attempt to pull the boat up on to the trailer can damage the winch or
even cause injury. Finally, the boat should not be tied to the trailer with
the winch rope. Other more suitable means should be used to fasten
it down.
Warning 2
The winch is not intended for lifting people or for lifting when people
are underneath the load. Avoid standing under a load that has been
hoisted with the winch.
Attaching a rope (line)
No clamp is needed. Look at the two pictures. They show two ways
to insert the line, the one on the right with a strong line, the one on
the left with a thinner line.
Attaching a wire
For attaching a wire use the enclosed clamp, which sits tight into
the rectangular hole. Look at the picture below.
Thinner line
Strong line
Warning 3
Never pull the line (wire).out completely when it is loaded. Make sure
there are four turns on the drum. Otherwise, the line may tear loose.
The nut for the handle must be tightened toward the shoulder
before the winch can be used.
