Installation Instructions for:
Bijou
Surface mounted range of square or round, IP65, tough, compact fluorescent luminaires.
Safe Installation and Operation
•
Check the rating label for voltage and frequency before connecting this luminaire to the electrical supply.
•
Ensure the mains supply is switched off when working on this luminaire, whether installing, re-lamping or carrying out any other
servicing.
•
Use the correct lamps as initially supplied or as indicated on the ballast label.
•
To maintain the IP rating of the luminaire ensure all fixing and cable entry holes are sealed correctly.
•
Ensure the fixing/suspension system is adequate for the luminaire weight involved.
•
Feed the incoming supply cable via a suitable cable entry gland and connect to the terminal block marked:
L
N
•
Do Not Perform Insulation Tests On Emergency Or High Frequency Versions.
This will damage the electronic circuits within the modules. If an electronic type switch is being used ensure there is no 'leakage
current' when in the 'off' position, as this could potentially impair the performance of the luminaire.
Servicing and Lamp Disposal
•
At commissioning and handing over of installation ensure that a copy of these instructions are presented to the authority
responsible for the operation and maintenance of the luminaire.
•
Servicing, e.g. lamp replacement, must be carried out after the electricity supply has been switched off. It must not be assumed
that luminaires with the lamps not lit are switched off - always check before servicing.
•
Cleaning should be carried out at regular intervals to ensure that dirt does not accumulate to an extent that will impair the thermal
safety of the luminaire. Regular cleaning will also ensure that the optical performance of the luminaire is maintained.
•
Failed lamps must be replaced as soon as practicable by lamps of the same type.
If a starter switch is fitted, this should be replaced at the same time as the lamp.
•
Lamps should be disposed of by breaking them in a container. Precautions should be taken against flying glass or any other
fragments. This should be done out of doors or in a well ventilated area.
Disposal of the debris of large quantities of glass may be the subject of special regulations of your Local Authority, who should be
consulted for specific guidance.
•
All other parts of these luminaires, in small quantities, may be disposed of in the normal way.
