human health and the environment. For more information about
where you can drop off your waste equipment for disposal, please
contact your local municipal office, waste disposal service or where
you purchased the product.
Components
The Cadex Duro charger package includes these items:
1 Duro
Charger
1 or 5 Adapters with screws. The screws are taped inside
the adapter screw hole (see installation instructions below)
1 User’s
Guide
1 External AC Power Supply
1 AC Power Cord (North American Plug)
The power cord is the disconnect device. The
power outlet to which the Duro charger is
connected must be accessible at all times.
For permanently installed equipment, (for
example, installing the charger in a vehicle),
a readily accessible disconnect device must
be incorporated into the wiring.
Installing Adapters
1. Match the software configuration file name printed on a
label on the under-side of the charger with the software
configuration file name printed on a label on the underside
of the adapter. If the names do not match, please contact
your representative to obtain the correct adapters.
2. For larger adapters (figure 1), connect the ribbon cable
from the adapter to the socket. Then insert the adapter into
the socket.
3. Remove the tape covering the screw hole.
4. Small adapters (figure 2) do not have a ribbon cable:
insert the adapter into the charger socket. The adapter
slides into socket in one direction. If the adapter does not
fit, turn it around and reinsert it. DO NOT FORCE THE
ADAPTER IN.
5
. Insert the screw(s) and tighten with a screwdriver. DO
NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
Figure 1: For large adapters,
first connect the ribbon
cable and then insert the
adapter.
Figure 2: For small
adapters, insert the adapter
into the socket.
Operation
1. Adapters are color-coded. The text Ni or Li may be
marked each adapter.
Li-Ion (Li)
Blue Label
NiCd & NiMH (Ni)
Green Label
Tri-Chemistry (NiCd,
NiMH and Li-Ion)
Silver Label
NOTICE:
Attempting to charge a battery with
the wrong adapter can lead to an incomplete
charge, battery damage, fire or explosion.
Do NOT service
a Li-Ion battery in an adapter
with a
Green label
or if it is marked
Ni
.
Do NOT service
a NiCd or NiMH battery in an
adapter with a
Blue label
or if it is marked
Li
.
2. Plug the DC output cord from the power supply into the
back of the charger and the power cord into the wall
outlet.
3. All lights will flash briefly when power is first applied to
the Duro charger.
4. If
is
flashing
with no battery installed, then an
incorrect adapter has been installed in this station (ie. A
high voltage adapter has been inserted into a low
voltage unit or a low voltage adapter has been inserted
into a high voltage unit). Please contact your
representative to obtain the correct adapter.
5. Insert a battery. The Duro charger will automatically
detect the presence of a battery and begin charging.
6. If a Li-Ion battery is not detected on the charger, leave
it on the charger for a few minutes. The charger will
apply a ‘Boost’ pulse for several minutes in order to
wake it up.
