Egg-Bot Electro-Kistka

Operating Instructions

Electric hot wax pen for EggBot with

interchangeable tips and adjustable power.

Here is what comes with the Electro-Kistka:

  

1.

 Kistka heater assembly

 Plug-in power supply (UL listed, universal input)

 

 4.

 Strip beeswax, black

  

5.

 Miniature screwdriver (for power adjustment)

 Tip cleaning wire (for #0 – #3 tips)

CAUTION:

  This is a that tool attains high temperatures and produces hot wax. 

Hot tools and wax can cause personal injury (burns) and/or property damage.  
• Do not touch hot surfaces or wax.  
• Do not allow children to use this tool without direct, constant supervision.

You’ll also need:

  

1.

 An EggBot Kit

  

2.

 5/64” hex driver (included w/ EggBot)

  

3.

 An appropriate work surface

  

4.

 Scrap paper (for testing wax flow)

  5.

 Eggs or other media to print upon

       

Eggs should be clean, dry, and at room temperature.

  

Part 1: Gathering parts and supplies

Additional recommended tools and supplies: 

 

• 

A set of tweezers

 

• 

Dyes for eggs, prepared in jars according

       to manufacturer’s instructions.
 

• 

Drying rack for eggs

 

• 

A spoon (for raising/lowering eggs) for each dye color

 

• 

Paper towels or low-lint cloths, for cleanup and/or drying eggs

 

• 

A low-temperature heat gun for removing wax

 

• 

Tools for blowing eggs

Part 2: Setup

1. 

Begin with power off. Fully insert the kistka tip into its hole, in the red aluminum block at the front of the  

    heater assembly. Use the 5/64” hex driver to 

gently

 tighten it in place with the provided screw.

2. 

Unscrew the screw at the top rear of the EggBot’s pen arm, to remove the pen holder.  Replace it with the 

    Kistka heater assembly, in the same location. The kistka tip should point 

directly

 towards the pen motor shaft.

3.

 Arrange the Power control board behind the EggBot.  Ensure that as the pen arm moves to and fro, the cable

    will not bind or catch upon the EggBot frame.  Finally, connect the power supply to the control board.
