VOD USER TURN ON / OFF ADJUSTMENT
Very occasionally, a
gig-fx
pedal might not want to turn on or off at the correct treadle position.
In this document, two possible remedies are discussed.
BATTERY
Please test your battery; it is the most likely cause. If the battery runs down, the effect will not
turn off because there is insufficient power for the unit to work correctly. When using a power
supply, please check that the voltage is at least 8V and that it has enough power to supply all of
your effects.
1)
IF NOT THE BATTERY
The VOD uses an optical circuit to turn the device on and off and also to change the gain /
distortion level. Optics characteristics can occasionally change with time for various reasons
beyond our control. Fortunately, there is a simple screw adjustment that can compensate for
any changes. It is not rocket science, but you need to follow the procedures carefully to ensure
success.
You will need:
1. One small flat head screwdriver, similar to what opticians use. Potentiometer
adjustment tools are also commonly available.
2. A mirror, CD or any white reflecting surface
PROCEDURE
1. Make sure the battery is good or plug in an external power supply.
2. Insert a jack plug into the input jack of the pedal. Make sure the pedal is all the way
back. The unit should be off (no LED on). If the unit is still on, it will need to be
adjusted.
3. Place the pedal on its back so that the treadle is on a level work surface and the
base of the pedal is facing you
4. Position the reflecting surface so that you can see when the LED is on or off
5. Locate bar code label on the base plate and either remove it or feel around for the
aperture underneath it and pierce the label with the screwdriver. Through this
aperture you should be able to see a slotted screw head. This is the pot you need
to adjust. See fig 1 below.
6. Carefully push the screwdriver into the aperture and try to locate the slotted screw
underneath. Once you have located the screw and the screwdriver is seated in the
slot, turn the screw clockwise until the LED goes off.
7. Check the unit now turns on and off correctly and also the correct yellow and red
LEDs come on when the pedal is engaged in the second and third positions
respectively. Adjust the screw until this happens. Turning it clockwise will retard
