Quidway® NetEngine 80 Core Router
System Architecture
Overview
The Quidway
®
NetEngine 80 core router (abbreviated to NE80) is a 5
th
generation high-end router
product launched by Huawei in orientation to carrier-class operation networks and backbone
networks. It is mainly applied in the key positions of IP backbone networks, IP MANs and various
large-scale IP networks. The NE80 provides multiple network solutions, and can also work with
other Huawei products to provide integrated solutions.
The NE80 has the switching capacity of 128 Gbps, the backplane capacity of 256 Gbps, and the
packet forwarding rate of 96 Mpps. The NE80 has 20 slots: two for MPUs (1:1 backup), two for
NETBs (1:1 backup) and 16 service slots, providing line cards and service interfaces ranging from
64 Kbps to 2.5 Gbps.
Architecture
The NE80 is based on a distributed forwarding architecture and adopts the passive backplane
design. All Line Processing Units (LPUs) are configured with independent CPU, NP and Physical
Interface Card (PIC), greatly improving the processing performance and scalability of the whole
system.
