Tools needed:

• Standard socket set

NOTE: Refer to Owner’s Manual for steps 1 through 4.

To replace the motor assembly:

1. Place the power chair in drive mode.

2. Remove the seat.

3. Lift off the shroud.

4. Remove the batteries.

5. Support the power base frame so that the drive wheel is suspended.

6. Remove the drive wheel. See figure 1.

7. Remove the U-bolt from the motor. See figure 2.

8. Disconnect the anti-tip strut from the anti-tip bracket. See figure 3.

9. Disconnect the motor strut from the power base frame. See figure 4.

10. Locate and cut the wire ties that fasten the motor wiring harness to the frame. Note the position of the wire ties

for installation. See figure 7.

11. Unplug the motor harness.

12. Disconnect the motor and anti-tip bracket from the frame. See figure 5.

13. Loosen the setscrew on the freewheel lever and disconnect the freewheel cable. See figure 6.

14. Connect the new motor to the frame. See figure 5.

15. Connect the motor strut to the power base frame. See figure 4.

16. Connect the anti-tip strut to the anti-tip bracket. See figure 3.

17. Connect the anti-tip bracket to the motor with the U-bolt. See figure 2.

18. Connect the freewheel cable to the freewheel lever and tighten the setscrew. See figure 6.

19. Route the motor harness and reconnect it to either the power interface harness or the power module (depending

on controller).

20. Secure the motor harness with wire ties at the same location(s) as the old motor.

21. Reinstall the drive wheel. Torque the nut to 44—56 ft.-lbs. (60—76 N • m). See figure 1.

22. Reinstall the batteries.

23. Reinstall the shroud.

24. Reinstall the seat.

The motor assembly is now ready for use.
